Mapping HaiTijuana is a digital humanities project that explores how Haitian migrants have reshaped Tijuana’s urban and cultural landscape from 2017 to 2025. Using thick mapping as a methodological tool, the project documents both physical and digital spaces transformed by migrant communities, solidarity networks, and local artists. By visualizing settlement patterns, cultural enclaves, and spaces of resistance and resilience, it highlights the intersections of migration, urban transformation, and spatial justice in a border city. As a pilot study, Mapping HaiTijuana also proposes a replicable framework for understanding and mapping migration-driven urban change in other global contexts.
